If you have seen the movie, “Catch Me if You Can,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, you will have marveled at the audacious criminal skills of the real life, master bank fraud criminal, Frank William Abagnale, Jr., as portrayed by DiCaprio.
After his eventual capture, and imprisonment, Abagnale was offered a way out of jail by becoming the FBI’s expert on bank fraud. He has now been associated with the FBI for over 30 years, and is considered to the world’s leading authority on bank fraud, and it’s prevention.
Speaking at a recent NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) Conference, Abagnale was asked by an audience member,
“What, in your opinion, is the best method of destroying paper records, and the information recorded on computer hard drives?”
His response was immediate, and direct.
“Strip shredding, or cross cut shredding documents provides absolutely no challenge for identity, or data, thieves. The only paper that can be considered to have been effectively destroyed is that processed by a qualified paper shredding service, or a micro shredder.”
He added,
“The only way to destroy the data contained on a hard drive’s disc platters is to physically destroy the hard drives by shredding them, drilling them, or pulverizing them to recyclable dust.”
Frank finished with,
“If you didn’t see it done, how can you be sure it was?”
At Adera we wholeheartedly agree, and have built our services accordingly.
Adera focuses on the provision of “On-Site Security Shredding.” We come to you, at your facility, or home to execute your regular, or one-off, paper shredding, or hard drive destruction.
On-Site Security Shredding minimizes interruption to your valuable working day, or leisure time, and negates any issues related to the creation of a “Chain of Custody” for your documents.
Adera’s trucks have the highest throughput rates in the shredding industry, and can automatically lift and shred the contents of the largest, 95-gallon carts, which further reduces the time spent at your site, and gives you the widest range of containers to suit your requirements and space constraints.
Many shredding trucks can only handle up to 65-gallon containers, and some cannot automatically lift the containers, and must be manually fed with paper to be shredded, which makes for higher direct, and indirect shredding costs.
Contracting Adera for your data destruction purposes creates the peace of mind you owe yourself, your company and your clients. |
